Hello, I'm so glad you're here!

I'm Julie Ratkovich, a photographer in the Minneapolis metro area specializing in maternity, newborn, children, and family photography. My whole life has revolved around children and families. I graduated with a degree in elementary education and worked as a lead infant teacher at a local Montessori school for 10 years before starting my photography business. I have now been in business for 7 years and love every minute of the creativity and flexibility it adds to my life. I am also a proud mama of two amazing kiddos and lover of all things cats, coffee, and travel!

My approach to photography is all about creating relationships. I love photographing the same family for years as they grow and expand. My favorite part of a shoot is when the kids get out of the car and run to give me hugs. It all helps to establish happy, genuine sessions with real emotion, real smiles, and real love shining through. I am very relaxed and positive durning sessions. I believe in letting kids be kids and never expect them to sit, pose, and smile for too long. I like to capture the relationships between my clients and encourage running, tickling, shoulder rides, and laughter! If this sounds like your type of session, we will be a great match!
